If you lack self-respect you will tend to be insecure. You will always be focused on factors outside yourself to gauge whether you are doing well. You will need to approval of others too much. You will struggle to have a clear set of values which guide you. You will often compare yourself with others. You will be competitive in unhelpful ways. You will be too focused on power and not enough on empowering others.

Respecting yourself lays a solid foundation for respecting others, as well as for others to respect you. You will have capacity to set healthy boundaries. You will look after yourself in a way that sets you up to have energy when you need it. You won’t suffer fools and you won’t be easily flattered. You will listen and expect to be listened to when you speak.

Self-Respect is the core of a healthy leader.
