Fulfillment AND Success
Most high achievers are really on a quest for fulfillment and freedom. Some mistakenly think that money can give both. However, fulfillment comes more from inner needs being met. People mostly find fulfillment in relationships and family or personal growth and making a contribution that brings meaning. These things will not wait for retirement. The challenge is to learn how to integrate a busy work role into the larger picture of your whole life in a healthy and sustainable way.
Assertive Without Being Rude
If you follow this simple process you are being assertive. You are taking the initiative. You are far more likely to resolve awkward issues quickly and cleanly without being rude.
Essential Disciplines for a Successful Life
No-one builds a successful life accidentally. It requires hard work and the willingness to learn and grow. There are habits that are foundational to success. And there are habits that undermine success. These 5 essential disciplines I have observed in people who have achieved long term success.
Planning Puts YOU In Control
Effective planning puts you in the control seat. For a variety of good and bad reasons, many people are not very organised and as a result are often left struggling to do things at the last minute. For example: if you know in advance when you want to take holidays and...
Efficiency Does Not Bring Business Growth
If you struggle to know your priorities, efficient email management strategies will not help you. A focus on time management will not assist you much. After all time management is an oxymoron. You cannot manage time. You can only manage your priorities. You cannot bring back the time you waste doing things that are unproductive.
Leave Your Personal Baggage At The Door?
Your success in business is far more likely to be undermined by issues in your personal life than any particular business decision. Your energy and motivation for business comes from your personal life. Make sure you don’t allow your drive for success to wreck your health or your most precious relationships.
The Power Of Focus
Focus is not so much about saying ‘No’, rather it is saying an absolute and resolute ‘Yes’ to pursuing a goal, a plan, a vision, a dream. It is the ability to zero in on what is important to you to the exclusion of everything else in a way that almost makes everything else cease to exist at least in that moment of time.
Who Is Really In Control?
Busy executives and business owners often say to me, “I just don’t have time to (insert self-care activity ….go to the gym, go for a walk, eat lunch, etc.” They often then throw in, ”Heck, I can’t even get to attend my child’s school sports carnival.” They feel guilty and frustrated that their business or high paying career is not giving them the freedom they would like to be a good parent.
I contend that the issue here is not busyness. It is not even planning. It has little to do with self-management. It has EVERYTHING to do with a lack of self-respect.
